Tasting Notes:

The panel tasted the Other French Red Varietal category over the course of two months on February 21 and March 28, 2018. It featured 38 wines from 17 producers, including 4 “world” wines from Lodi California, Victoria Australia, Campo de Borja Spain and Mendoza Argentina. The regional breakdown included 39% of the wines from the Texas Hill Country, 29% from the Texas High Plains and the remaining 21% consisting of wines labeled Texas. The panel demonstrated an acute level of consensus that is considered a normal statistical deviation with an average Panel Consensus score of 0.52, which means that on average the judges on the panel tastes within 2.08 points of each other on a 100 point scale.
